Newsletter Campaigns are used to offer contacts within Automation Concierge the ability to opt into receiving newsletters and the ability to opt people who come across a newsletter advertisement (example below) into receiving newsletters.

Follow the steps bellow to learn how to setup a Newsletter Campaign within Automation Concierge.

Offering contacts within Automation Concierge newsletters

Step 1: Newsletter Request Campaign

Create Newsletter Request Campaign:

  • Has one immediate sms event that says: text back ex: 'empower' to opt into our newsletter.
  • Window: none.
  • Allow multiple: no.
  • All other configurations: customizable.

Use a bulk request, auto import (ex: fBook lead ad), or a trigger to get the contacts you want to offer the newsletter to into Newsletter Request Campaign.

Step 2: Newsletter Intro Campaign

Create Newsletter Intro Campaign:

  • Has one immediate sms or email or both (depending on what communication channel you want to use) welcoming the contacts to the newsletter.
  • Window: none.
  • Tag: news.
  • Allow multiple: no.
  • Stop on response: no.
  • All other configurations: customizable.

Step 3: Trigger Opt-ins from Newsletter Request Campaign into Newsletter Intro Campaign

Create Trigger:

  • If a contact replies to Newsletter Request Campaign (Campaign 1) with the keyword (empower) they are put into Newsletter Intro Campaign (Campaign 2).

Step 4: Newsletter Campaign

Create Newsletter Campaign:

  • Allow multiple: no.
  • Stop on response: no.
  • All other configurations: customizable.

Step 5: Bulk Request into Newsletter Campaign

Use a bulk request to get all contacts with the tag 'news' (step 2.) into Newsletter Campaign.

People who want to receive the newsletter and are not in HighLevel

These are the people who come across the advertisement on a website for example, are not a contact within HighLevel and want to opt in to receiving newsletters.

They would text the keyword (empower) to the client's Twilio phone number (###-###-####) which would be on the advertisement.

  • 66866 (see advertisement above) is a short code.
  • Google 'short codes' for more information but they are not mandatory.

When a person texts in you will see the below in conversations:

Limitation: Automation Concierge is unable to trigger off an sms from someone not in a campaign, which is the case here. We would have to manually add each sms with the keyword to the Newsletter Intro Campaign (step 2.). You can do this by clicking the +Add button on the contact card (see bottom right of screenshot above). Feature Request.

  • Note that you do not have this contact's email at this point. If your newsletters are only email communications they will not receive them.
    • You can either manually ask them for an email from within conversations or create a campaign requesting their email via sms. If you choose the latter you would be '+Add'ing them to that campaign in this step.

Opting Out

  • Twilio will unsubscribe anybody who replies with 'stop' via sms. This is a general communication policy.
  • Contacts can unsubscribe to emails within the email, which is handled by Mailgun. You can customize unsubscribe settings.
  • The next time you bulk request contacts with the tag 'mail' into a newsletter campaign, the contacts who opted out will not receive the newsletter as Twilio and/or Mailgun will prevent them from sending.
